Rotate, zoom and edit without losing a stall.

Evidence checked November 3, 2026 · PC Demo

The short answer

For the documented PC Demo controls, use R to rotate the item and Q / E to zoom. R is the documented alternative when you cannot use middle mouse. For deletion, the developer identifies the last button on the bottom toolbar while the market is closed. Check the mode before clicking a placed building.

Select, Shop and Delete do different jobs

In Pink Alpaca Plays’ reviewed September24 Demo, the bottom toolbar’s leftmost Select tool is separate from the shopping-cart tool. The tutorial at3:30–3:50 says Select lets you click the gate, buildings and stalls to open their panels and available upgrades. Use it to inspect an existing object rather than placing another copy.

If you want to compare a stall’s Resource, Selling or Upgrade information, follow the selected-object panel route. Use the shop for placement and check the last-button Delete mode before clicking anything valuable. Daytime, grass and library controls have a separate toolbar reference.

Move the camera without rotating the object

The opening tutorial in Winter Hevn's October 3 Demo recording shows three distinct camera gestures:

Camera actionTutorial gestureObserved frame
Move across the sceneHold the middle mouse button and drag.0:54
Zoom in or outScroll the mouse wheel.0:58
Rotate the viewHold the right mouse button and drag.1:02

These are camera instructions, whereas R is the later developer-confirmed item-rotation alternative. An October 2 player also found the right button's camera/item contexts confusing. Watch whether the view or placement preview changes, then return to the intended tool.

Without a working middle button, R solves the documented item rotation task. The reviewed material does not establish an equivalent keyboard pan, trackpad gesture or rebinding workaround for every camera action. Record your actual Demo version if the installed tutorial differs.

Shop gets stuck after selecting lights

In an October 5 Demo review, one player reported being unable to select another building tab after buying lights. They got back into the shop by clicking Select, then returning to Shop. If that matches your symptom, try this mode change before deleting placed objects.

Check whether another shop tab now responds. This is a single player's workaround, not a tested universal repair. If it fails, preserve the current layout and report the product, splash-screen version, selected item and unresponsive tab; do not assume reinstalling or deleting a save is required.

A compact control reference

What you wantDocumented input or locationWhat to watch
Rotate the item being placedR; middle mouse is also described in the rotation discussionWatch the item or its direction arrow, not just the camera.
Zoom the viewQ / EThis is zoom advice; it is not a verified building-resize shortcut.
Show or hide the base gridButton at the top-right of the shopThe developer described this existing toggle on October 3.
Delete a placed itemLast bottom-toolbar button, while the market is closedThe older icon was easy to mistake for another mode.
Recover an accidental deletionFull-game Undo was described on October 3No Demo Undo shortcut or recovery guarantee is established by that statement.

The September 30 developer reply describes keyboard/controller input work as ongoing. It does not establish a complete rebinding system or controller layout. Follow the controls shown by your installed version when they differ.

No middle mouse button? Try R on the item

  1. Choose the object you intend to place, with its placement preview active.
  2. Press R and watch whether the item turns. This is the alternative the developer confirms, rather than a promise that all camera actions have keyboard replacements.
  3. For an entrance, finish by checking its arrow against the road. Rotating the item is only one part of correct gate placement.

If R does not respond, identify your Demo build on the initial splash screen and compare its on-screen controls. Earlier September players reported middle-mouse limitations; do not assume every recording or old build has the same input set. The cited material does not prove a working key-rebinding workaround.

Separate editing from deletion

When the market is closed, inspect the bottom toolbar before clicking objects. The developer confirms the last button is Delete. Players reported accidentally removing stalls because that older icon did not clearly read as deletion.

  • Use the editing mode for changes that do not require removal; verify the selected mode and target in your version.
  • Move away from Delete before continuing to place or adjust objects.
  • Try an unfamiliar tool on a dispensable decoration before using it near an upgraded stall.
  • If you are trying to fix an entrance, check its orientation and road adjacency before removing surrounding structures.

These precautions do not establish a refund amount, a restore-from-save method or a shortcut for moving every object. The available replies do not supply those details.

What the Undo statement actually means

On October 3, TheLaba said the full game already had an Undo button when replying to accidental deletions. That is different from confirming Undo in the free Demo.

If your version visibly offers Undo, use that version’s labelled control. If it does not, do not rely on Ctrl+Z, repeatedly delete objects or replace your save on the assumption that a recovery method has been verified here. Preserve the current save and report the version and action if recovery matters.

A white placement line was also reported; one player said opening settings and returning removed it, while the developer called it a bug to investigate. That isolated workaround is not a general deletion or placement fix.

A tutorial guiding line is a different question

A November 3 player post describes a line from the mouse toward the target item during the tutorial. The player initially found it confusing, then understood its guiding purpose. If that matches your scene, compare the line’s target with the current tutorial instruction before assuming an object cannot be placed.

That is one player’s explanation, not a developer confirmation of every white line. The older persistent placement-line report discussed above has a different context and an isolated settings-and-return workaround. Neither source establishes a universal line-removal shortcut.

Watch the older Demo interface

Tokyo Reload · September 23, 2026 · Playing connects to YouTube.

The September 23 video is useful for recognizing the building interface. Its late entrance-rotation problem remains unresolved in that recording, so use the later developer instructions for gate placement. The video does not prove the present Demo or Early Access has identical controls.

Before you continue building

You can rotate the preview with R, zoom with the documented keys and distinguish editing from the last-button deletion tool. Treat missing Undo as a version boundary, not as a reason to experiment with a valuable stall.
