Entrances & building

Some water placements are intentional.

Evidence checked November 3, 2026 · PC Demo

The short answer

Torii and light objects being placeable in water is intentional, according to the October 3 developer reply about creative freedom. That does not remove the entrance gate’s separate road and direction checks. For layout work, use the shop’s top-right base-grid toggle and check the selected tool before touching an existing object.

A decorative Torii is not the entrance check

The reviewed September24 Demo shop shows a Torii Gate under Decorations → Structure at about4:50. A decorative arch can frame your scene without proving the functional entrance is placed correctly. For arrivals, inspect the actual entrance’s road adjacency and direction arrow.

The same footage shows a Decorations → Lights group. Use the decoration group for the object you want; use daytime or grass controls when changing the scene’s appearance instead. The Decor & tools channel helps choose between those routes.

A stall or rest area will not sit on a paved path

An October 2 Demo reviewer reported that stone paths collided with stalls and rest areas; an October 26 reviewer also struggled to place the entrance and discovered a grass-versus-path distinction for other items. For that specific placement symptom, move the preview onto nearby grass and see whether it becomes valid before redesigning the whole road.

This is a reversible check drawn from player experience, not a complete collision rule for all objects or versions. The functional entrance still needs road adjacency and the arrow facing the path; it is not the same as placing a stall on top of paving. A decorative Torii has another context again.

If grass does not help, record the item, preview, adjacent path and installed Demo version. Do not remove a valued upgraded object just to test an unconfirmed universal placement rule.

Water placement can be a design choice

A player asked why objects such as a Torii and lights could sit in water. TheLaba said this freedom was intentional. A placement that looks unusual is therefore not automatically a broken collision check.

Keep the claim at its actual scope: the reply addresses the objects and creative use being discussed. It does not prove that every building works in water, that all paths connect through water, or that a submerged entrance will welcome customers correctly.

If you are decorating, judge the scene and the object’s actual behavior. If you are troubleshooting arrivals, switch to the functional entrance checklist rather than using decorative freedom as evidence that the entrance is connected.

Road edges, benches and the entrance have different roles

Layout questionEstablished answer
Do benches need to be added for fallen visitors? No: the later developer clarification identifies a tripping interaction.
Where do the existing benches come from? The developer says benches are already placed along road edges.
Does an entrance need road connection?Yes: place it adjacent to the path, arrow toward it, with surrounding/rear space checked.
How many exact tiles must be free? The reviewed replies do not establish a numeric rule.

The earlier bench reply also considered reducing gaps in a future update. That is a proposed change, not a spacing control confirmed in the Demo. For the fallen-customer case, use the visitor guide instead of redesigning the road network.

Use the grid to inspect, then choose the right tool

  1. Open the building/shop interface in the relevant closed-market building state.
  2. Look for the top-right shop button identified by the developer as the base-grid visibility toggle.
  3. Use the grid as an alignment aid. It does not replace checking the entrance arrow or prove that a resource producer is configured.
  4. Before selecting an existing item, verify the active tool. The last bottom-toolbar button is the documented Delete tool while the market is closed.
  5. For an item preview that needs turning, use the documented R alternative. Use Q/E for zoom, not as a claimed resize shortcut.

The controls guide keeps rotation, editing, deletion and the full-game Undo boundary together. Do not delete a valued stall simply to test an unfamiliar icon.

When changing the layout is the wrong next step

A persistent cursor drift is an input symptom, not a placement restriction. A white line during the tutorial can be a guidance question; an older persistent white-line report outside that context was treated as a bug to investigate. These are covered in the input and controls branches.

If a decorative placement looks right but a stall has zero Fresh or Protein, inspect production and resource matching. The reviewed evidence does not support solving an upstream resource mismatch by placing more decorative objects or benches.

A layout decision with a clear reason

You can distinguish intentional water decoration from a functional entrance requirement, show the alignment grid, and identify the active tool before changing existing objects.
