From an empty plot to opening the market.

Evidence checked November 3, 2026 · PC Demo

The short answer

Prepare the layout while the market is closed: roads and a road-facing entrance, resource production, then stalls matched to those resources. Use Select mode to inspect a placed object’s panel before pressing Open Market at the top of the screen. Once open, watch the stock and visitors; use the control labelled Close Market to return to preparation.

Checked November 3, 2026. The separate Windows Demo teaches this introductory loop. These steps combine the Demo tutorial shown in creator footage with later developer answers; they are not a claim that we played a successful full market run. These are sourced instructions and decisions, not our own gameplay test.

Start with the tutorial and a small layout

In the reviewed Demo, the first tutorial asks you to move, zoom and rotate the camera before building. Learn those movements before covering a large area: it is easier to inspect one entrance, a producer and a few stalls than diagnose a whole decorated market at once.

For item rotation, the developer later documents R, with Q/E for zoom. A camera instruction and an item-rotation instruction are different actions. Use the controls reference if middle mouse is the obstacle. If your pointer moves on its own, check the dated cursor-fix route before changing the layout.

Prepare the first selling route

  1. Place roads and the functional entrance. Put the entrance beside a path with its direction arrow facing that path, leaving free space behind it. A decorative Torii selected from Decorations is a separate object; its presence does not confirm an arrival route.
  2. Add resource production. The developer’s answer to empty Fresh/Protein stock is to produce the resource first. The selling selection alone does not make it.
  3. Place and configure stalls. Compare the producer’s actual resource with the stall’s Resource setting. Fresh, Protein and Grain are separate names in the reviewed footage.
  4. Inspect before expanding. Use Select mode and click the object you want to manage. The Demo tutorial explicitly names the gate, buildings and stalls as selectable objects.

This is a useful preparation order, not an exact building-count recipe or an optimal layout. Follow the tutorial for the build you actually installed. If a placement fails, use the gate checks or the object-specific placement checks; do not assume every structure shares the gate’s rules.

Select is where you inspect; Shop is where you place

The reviewed bottom toolbar separates Select from the shopping-cart tool. At about3:50, the tutorial instructs the creator to select a gate, building or stall to open its panel and view available upgrades. At4:10, a selected stall shows Resource, Selling and Upgrade sections.

Use that panel to check the selected resource and read the current values. An upgrade offer is a separate decision from supplying the stall: upgrading the selling side does not replace a missing producer. The upgrade guide explains what to compare and how to interpret unchanged building appearance.

Read the production preview before confirming

Winter Hevn's October 3 Demo recording at 25:53 shows an Open Market confirmation with a today's production preview, resource icons and separate Cancel and Confirm buttons. Use that checkpoint to compare the resources shown with the stalls you prepared.

  1. Read the preview for your actual layout, rather than copying a recording's quantities.
  2. If the expected supply is absent, choose Cancel and inspect the matching producer/resource setup.
  3. When you intend to open, use Confirm; then check actual stall stock and visitor behavior separately.

The selected frame establishes the confirmation and preview, not guaranteed output, timing, profit or a complete successful run. A resource number in a video is not a universal production rate. If the preview and the stall disagree, record both panels and use the supply diagnostic.

Open, observe, then return to preparation

After inspecting the layout and resources, use the top-centre Open Market control. The tutorial’s opening prompt asks you to check selected resources and welcome the first visitors. In the later open-market scene, the control reads Close Market, and the preparation shop is replaced by the market-view controls.

Use the label to identify the phase you are in. If you need the closed-market building toolbar again, close the market first. Do not mistake a day/night appearance change for confirmation that you opened the market.

Choose one thing to improve next

When you can distinguish preparation from the open market, choose your next goal: correct one resource mismatch, compare one stall upgrade, or decorate a small corner. Keeping the change small makes its effect easier to understand.

The Demo offers limited buildings and progression. For what the wider game is intended to add, read market goals, creative play and the announced story. There is no need to invent a hidden unlock requirement when the interface explicitly says Demo Locked.

Your first-market checkpoint

You can identify the functional entrance, explain which producer supplies a stall, open the correct object panel and distinguish Open Market from Close Market. In your own game, inspect stock and visitor behavior separately; use the matching symptom route if either fails.
