Find the free Demo—and know where it stops.

Evidence checked November 3, 2026 · PC Demo

The short answer

The free Oboro no Ichi Demo has its own Steam page: App 5271720. Open that page and choose the Demo install option. It is currently listed for Windows. The parent game, App 4559930, is a separate upcoming Early Access release scheduled for November 9.

Checked November 3, 2026. The Demo remains available and was released September 23. A parent-game platform listing or a feature in the main development build does not establish that the free Demo includes it. These are sourced instructions and decisions, not our own gameplay test.

Once installed, follow the market loop

The Demo’s opening portion teaches roads, resource buildings, stalls and decoration, then opening the market to visitors. Use the first-market workflow for the preparation order, Select mode and Open/Close control. A locked feature, an empty stall and a misplaced entrance have different causes.

For what to do after the available tutorial, compare management, creative and announced story goals. For Switch, console and mobile questions, the platform-status guide separates actual desktop listings from unanswered port requests; the parent’s PC date is not a console date.

Use the separate Demo listing

  1. Open the official Oboro no Ichi Demo store page. Check that the product name includes Demo and the app number is 5271720.
  2. Use its install option in Steam. You can also search Steam for the full name Oboro no Ichi Demo, the route the developer gave a player who could not find it.
  3. Check the Windows requirements before judging whether the installation should run on your machine.
  4. When you launch it, note the build number at the bottom-right of the initial splash screen. Use that number for later input or placement reports.

The parent store now also exposes a Demo download entry, but the separate child listing makes the version distinction clear. A wishlist, parent-game release date or generic store search result is not proof that the full game is installed.

What the introductory session covers

The official Demo description says its tutorial introduces roads, resource buildings, market stalls and decorations, followed by opening the market to wandering spirits. It contains a limited selection of buildings, decorations and progression.

For a specific obstacle, follow the matching route:

This is the described tutorial sequence with focused help, not a claim that we verified a complete market run or every tutorial step.

“Demo Locked” is a version boundary

What you see or expectWhat the sources establish
Photo Mode / Demo LockedThe October 2 developer reply places its button at the bottom-left while the market is open, but says Photo Mode is unavailable in the Demo.
Undo after a deletionThe developer describes full-game Undo. That does not confirm a Demo button or Ctrl+Z recovery.
More buildings, decorations or progressionThe official Demo explicitly limits these.
Books, cinematics and deeper storyThe developer describes fuller explanations in the full release; no complete Demo story route is established here.

Do not reinstall or delete a save to unlock an explicitly Demo-locked feature. A button being visible is different from its function being available. The sources do not provide a Demo unlock code or a complete Photo Mode workflow.

Waiting for the full game or checking an old fix?

The Early Access date and scope guide separates the planned November 9 launch from a finished 1.0 release, the developer's estimate and the as-yet unpriced store listing. Installing the Demo is a different task from buying that upcoming game.

For old advice, use the Demo version and build checks. A database record updated today does not by itself mean a new Demo patch was released.

If the app or install option is missing

Recheck the exact child listing and your platform. The parent lists macOS, while the current Demo lists Windows only. Use the Mac availability checks or Linux/Proton limits for those cases.

If the official Demo listing changes or is unavailable in your Steam view, report that actual condition. We do not infer region access, a release delay, a purchase requirement or successful installation from an older discussion.

Before you build

You have identified the free Demo rather than the upcoming parent game, checked the supported platform and separated missing content from a malfunction. Next, use the controls or supply guide for the obstacle you actually encounter.
